In response to the TDi vs 1.8T debate it seems that in your area the argument for the TDi is very strong with diesel prices so, so low compared with petrol. My experiences of the 110 TDi engine is that in the low revs (1500ish) the engine is more tractable than the 1.8T, more power low down and better in higher gears at lower speeds.
My 1.6 tdi taxi got 200k and still strong but I start to use a DTUK tuning box to get more power and extra MPG. 2.0 engine more economical then 1.6 for sure. Clutch on 140k and EGR on 100k.
2.0 FSI VS 2.0 TDI I currently on a 2.0 FSI & my Mate has a 2.0 TDI I want a head to head list of things that make 2.0 FSI better than the 2.0 TDI or the other way round. I want to also know if mechanically if 1 engine is better for reliability then the other 2.0 FSI vs 2.0 TDI
Sa 1,9 TDI sam presao 80k km bez ikakvih problema, snage dovoljno za nase ceste. 2.0 TDI osjetno jaci, trosi u prosjeku nekih 1-1,5 lit vise, ali puno pogodniji za autoceste jer je mjenjac sa 6 brzina. Sto se pouzdanosti tice sa ovom sam presao malo preko 100k km, na nekih 70k km kvar na dosser klapni od 700 KM.

So I opted for the better deal. Should have kept the 01 TDI. Got pissed of about the intake cleaning and modding to prevent it. The TDI is a great car. Pulls strong stock. Will pull a stock 1.8T on a 5th gear roll on from 60 to about 100 or so. The 1.8T is faster car stock pure and simple. The TDI is just a bit of a different driving experience.
1.9 TDI lasts long thanks to some very resilient quality on Volkswagen’s part and even longer if the engine is well maintained and serviced. You could very easily make it past 200,000 miles with a 1.9 engined car. In a lot of cases, there are cars with more than 300,000 miles on the clock, but even that’s not the full potential of the 1.9 TDI.
